Production Blog: Filming updates and challenges

 Hello! Last weekend we were unable to continue filming, but we kept in contact and finally set up a time to meet. We decided to get together again and film on Friday. We have an early release day on Thursday and no school on Friday, but we chose to film on Friday instead of Thursday because one of our team members has volleyball practise on Thursdays. Last weekend we were unable to meet because one of our teammates had a volleyball game and the other had to attend a family event. However, one of our teammates lives with one of our actors and over the weekend she filmed some scenes. This was because of our inability to get together, and for health precautions since more people would be present and involved. Throughout the process, she realized some of the camera shots and angles we had planned would not work. Because of this, she had to adjust and film different angles, but this will not affect the film. For example,  she decided to change a shot from a long shot to a close up while the mother was running. The changes were very minor and the film still has the same feeling and effect it did before. 
I believe we will be able to finish filming by Friday. Even though the project is due next month, we decided to have everything done early in case we had to make any changes. If we finish everything by this week, we will be able to begin the editing process over spring break. Also, as we go through editing, we can reshoot any shots that we see don't fit while editing. Furthermore, exams are also coming up and happen close to the due date for this project. All 3 of us are taking challenging classes, and during that time, we will probably be busy reviewing and studying for the exams. We don't want to add more stress to ourselves over that, so it is easier to get this project done early. This way we won't risk not having the time to complete it or put our test scores in jeopardy by piling on work. I believe we are right on track to getting this project done, and I'm excited to film again at the end of the week!

Hello! Over the past couple of days, my team and I have been meeting to discuss and add sound to our project.  I thought this would be one of the easiest parts of the process, but I was very wrong. I think this has been one of the hardest aspects of creating our video. We didn't think it would take longer, so we all met on google meets one day like we usually do, and started thinking about which music to use. We all started looking through youtube to find copyright-free sounds we could use, but after about half an hour ago, we realized it was useless. Creative Critical Reflection for Honey Nut Cheerios Commercial

     While making my product, I used many food advertisement conventions, since my goal was to make a commercial for a Honey Nut Cheerios, which is a cereal brand. While doing my research, I found out that one of the conventions they use the most is having families or kids in their advertisements. This is because cereal brands like Cheerios' customers are mainly women older than 40 years old with families. Including families in their commercials help them stir feelings and appeal to their demographic. Because of this, I decided to include a family in my commercial too.      Also, I had a mom and her two kids together, and throughout the commercial, they have a conflict over the cheerios. This was one way my commercial challenged conventions. Usually, cereal commercials have kids or families playing together, instead of fighting. Introduction to the Music Video Project

     Today I started the process of producing the music video project. For this project, I decided to work with 3 of my friends who are also taking the media studies class. These are Abigail Koppel, Ashlyn Young and Jessica Guerra.     I chose to work with a group so I would be able to split the amount of work with someone. I chose these people because I have previous experience working with them. At first, I was planning to do it with only one person, but then we all talked about it and decided to work together. We've known each other for years and have worked in many group projects together, so I already know what to expect.  I'm more comfortable working with them since I know they will all work hard and we will end up with a high-quality product.
