After weeks of planning, meetings, filming, editing and reviewing, we have finally finished our final project! Although some parts of the journey were hard, I learned a lot and overall had a lot of fun. I'm really proud of my team, and Although it is not perfect, I really like how our project turned out!

Finishing our final task

Image
Hello! These past few days we have been working on finishing our final project, and today we finally did! Last weekend we finished adding sound, and this week we mostly focused on adding the titles, watching the film over and over again and fixing little things along the way, and having others review our final product.       To add our titles, I used the green filter effect on iMovie. I couple of years ago, one of my friends and I made a video for fun and edited it on iMovie, and we added text and images to it using this method, so I already knew how to do it and it was pretty easy. We first picked out our font. When we started planning out our film, we had picked one of the fonts that looked like handwriting but when we actually put it on the video, we realized it looked very childish and we wanted to use a different one. After going through a lot of fonts on PowerPoint, we couldn't find any we liked, so we started googling fonts and Harlow was able to find a font called &q

Editing Blog: Adding Sound

Image
Hello! Over the past couple of days, my team and I have been meeting to discuss and add sound to our project.  I thought this would be one of the easiest parts of the process, but I was very wrong. I think this has been one of the hardest aspects of creating our video. We didn't think it would take longer, so we all met on google meets one day like we usually do, and started thinking about which music to use. We all started looking through youtube to find copyright-free sounds we could use, but after about half an hour ago, we realized it was useless. We could only go through one sound at a time since we were doing it together, and it was taking a very long time. We decided this was not a good idea, and that instead of going through sounds together, we should go through sounds separately, pick our favorites and then we could go through the few ones we compiled together. The next day before we met again, I went through many sounds and picked the 5 I liked the most, then put them all

Editing Blog: Done with trimming and arranging clips

Image
Hello! This week we worked on finishing the editing of our music video. We had all the scenes filmed, and the first couple of scenes edited already, so now we just had to put them together. When we began editing the first scene of our project, we decided that I would be editing the music video from my computer, since I have the Imovie editing software, and we believe this is the best software available to us. Also, 2 out of 3 people in our team were already familiar with Imovie as we used it in previous projects, so this was the best choice. We also decided that to edit it was unnecessary to meet in person since only one person could be editing at a time, and I could just share my screen with my teammates online. This way there was less hassle and we would also be taking covid precautions.      To edit, we met on google meets and put all of the footage in a google drive shared folder since we had filmed clips on many different phones. This was an easy way to get them a

Finishing filming and the overall filming process

Hello! The last scene we filmed for our project was scene 9. This scene was the one in which the girl arrives at the kitchen, takes out food, drops it and then finds the note under the fridge. This was the same day the scene from the previous blog was filmed, so I was not present for the filming of this scene either. However, I'm aware of everything, as we talked afterwards and they caught me up with what happened.      One of the things we had to change was one of our props. we had at first planned to use carrots as the food that fell under the fridge, but unfortunately, by the time, we filmed those had run out. However, this was not an issue as pretty much any food small enough to go under the fridge would work. We decided to use small oyster crackers instead. We also had to change some of the shots. for example, we had planned out to have two different shots in the beginning, but we knew the film would end up being too long so it would be best to condense them into one. We

Refilming scenes 8 and 9

Hello! This past week after filming scenes 6 and 7, my group had to get together again to refilm scenes 8 and 9. We had filmed these scenes a couple of weeks ago the first time we got together. That day, we skipped filming the first few scenes and jumped to these two, since some of the actors in the previous scenes were unavailable, and it was bringing so we couldn't film the scenes that were outdoors. However, in the time between us filming those scenes and filming the rest of the opening sequence, Harlow (who plays one of our main characters) got a haircut. She cut her hair shoulder-length, and so the change was very noticeable since in scenes 8 and 9 she had very long hair, and in the rest of the film, her hair is short. We decided it would be best to refilm those two scenes, as it would look weird if halfway through the film her hair changes for only a couple of shots.       Unfortunately, I was unable to meet and film this day. It did not affect the filming process thou
