Filming Blog #2 For Music Video

After having to postpone filming over thanksgiving break, my group and I started filming our music video on Wednesday, December 2nd.  We had originally planned to film at one location, but we had to go to a different team member's house instead to take extra safety measures and make sure we were not coming in contact with covid. Because of this, we had to change some of our scenes.
We had planned on having a bonfire scene and a swing scene at the playground, but at the new location, we no longer had the fire pit or the swings so we came up with something new. We instead filmed both scenes at the beach.  One of the scenes consisted of us running towards the water together, and the other one was of us walking down the shore. Although they were different than what we had initially planned, they maintained the same effect. The goal was to portray the feeling of nostalgia, friendship and sadness and they both accomplished it.
Next, we filmed the scenes at the park, which were the volleyball scene and the funeral scene. When we got to the park, there were. lot fo people there so we had to figure out a way to film so that we wouldn't get them all in the background. We found a corner we could film in and an angle in which the people in the background were not visible, and we got all the scenes we needed. the funeral scene was very simple and we filmed it very quickly.
The hardest scene we filmed was the dog walking scene. We wanted to get a very smooth shot and if we filmed it handheld we knew it would turn out shaky. Because of this, we decided to film it on a car instead, and make the car go very slowly so it would match the speed of us walking and it would follow us smoothly. We had to take many shots and film it over many times, but in the end, we got it.
Lastly, we filmed the party scene. The hardest part was setting up because we had a lot of decorations to put up, but the actual filming was easy. We needed the shots to line up. so we recorded one scene, froze, one of got out of the shot, and then recorded the next one. By doing this, we are going to be able to get the shots to line up correctly for the transitions when we edit. Overall, I think filming went smoothly and we got all the shots we needed so we will not need to film a second day.
