Introduction

     Hello, My name is Juanita Garcia and I'm 16 years old. I go to Fort Lauderdale High school and I'm in 10th grade. I'm taking AICE media studies because I like and watch a lot of movies and tv shows, and I've always thought what went into making them was interesting.  Particularly, I'm very interested in video editing and audio and how they create all the special effects and sounds. I also had friends who took the class last year who recommended it and said they liked it a lot

    Outside of school, some things I enjoy doing are playing the piano, playing tennis, and reading. I've been playing the piano for the past 5 years, and it's one of the things I enjoy doing the most. I especially like learning classical songs because they tend to be more challenging than some of newer songs. Not only is it relaxing, but I love how satisfying it feels to finally get it right after hours of playing.

    I also enjoy reading. It started in 6th grade when our teacher made us read a new book every month and I've loved it ever since. I have a library in my room with over 50 books by now. During the school year, I tend to read less since I focus on assignments more, but I practically spend my entire summer reading. 

    Lastly, another thing I enjoy doing in my free time is playing tennis. I used to take classes when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old, but then stopped when I moved here from Colombia, and never took it back up. Last year though,  I joined my school's tennis team to feel things out and I found that I actually liked it a lot. I started taking classes again, and its something I really want to get good at in the future.

Hello! Over the past couple of days, my team and I have been meeting to discuss and add sound to our project.  I thought this would be one of the easiest parts of the process, but I was very wrong. I think this has been one of the hardest aspects of creating our video. We didn't think it would take longer, so we all met on google meets one day like we usually do, and started thinking about which music to use. We all started looking through youtube to find copyright-free sounds we could use, but after about half an hour ago, we realized it was useless. We could only go through one sound at a time since we were doing it together, and it was taking a very long time. Creative Critical Reflection for Honey Nut Cheerios Commercial

     While making my product, I used many food advertisement conventions, since my goal was to make a commercial for a Honey Nut Cheerios, which is a cereal brand. While doing my research, I found out that one of the conventions they use the most is having families or kids in their advertisements. This is because cereal brands like Cheerios' customers are mainly women older than 40 years old with families. Including families in their commercials help them stir feelings and appeal to their demographic. Because of this, I decided to include a family in my commercial too.      Also, I had a mom and her two kids together, and throughout the commercial, they have a conflict over the cheerios. This was one way my commercial challenged conventions. Usually, cereal commercials have kids or families playing together, instead of fighting. Introduction to the Music Video Project

     Today I started the process of producing the music video project. For this project, I decided to work with 3 of my friends who are also taking the media studies class. These are Abigail Koppel, Ashlyn Young and Jessica Guerra.     I chose to work with a group so I would be able to split the amount of work with someone. I chose these people because I have previous experience working with them. At first, I was planning to do it with only one person, but then we all talked about it and decided to work together. We've known each other for years and have worked in many group projects together, so I already know what to expect.  I'm more comfortable working with them since I know they will all work hard and we will end up with a high-quality product.
